Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”
