American-Palestinian Teenager Released After Nine-Month Period in Israeli Imprisonment

An American-Palestinian teenager after completing nine months in Israeli detention without charge has been freed.
The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 when he was arrested last February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where he was visiting on holiday from Florida for allegedly throwing stones against settlement residents, which he previously denied.
United States authorities said it welcomed the news of Mohammed's release.
Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital upon gaining freedom, according to close relatives.
They said he is showing signs of malnutrition, while battling health issues contracted in captivity.
Through an official statement, Mohammed's uncle spoke of the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".
The uncle, Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" over the last nine months.
"At this moment, we're concentrating on getting Mohammed the immediate medical attention he requires after being subjected to Israel's abuse and inhumane conditions throughout his detention."
American authorities announced ongoing to offer diplomatic assistance for the Ibrahim family.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers had signed a letter to US authorities and President Donald Trump, demanding more be done to secure his release.
The father, parent of four children who runs an ice cream business based in Tampa, previously said Mohammed acknowledged allegations about rock throwing due to physical abuse.
There were no visits or communicated with his son since the arrest, learning information solely regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.
The teenager remained absent formal charges in Ofer prison in the West Bank.
The facility also contains adult prisoners, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences and murder.
An estimated 350 Palestinian child security detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, per correctional service statistics.
Several lack formal charges along with monitoring agencies, including UN bodies, report instances of mistreatment and torture.
Subsequent to his liberation, the uncle stated relatives would persist in advocating for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.
The 20-year-old dual US citizen per medical officials was beaten to death by settlement residents following tensions during summer.
During that period, military authorities reported officials were investigating information regarding a civilian had died.
The two cousins collaborated within the family's frozen treats establishment in Tampa, Florida.
No one has been charged with Sayfollah's killing.
"We expect US authorities to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
